Buffalo looks to end skid against Browns

Bills must win to stay in Playoff Hunt.

The Buffalo Bills (6-7, 11th Seed in AFC) welcome the winless Cleveland Browns which could be just what the doctor ordered to get back on the winning track.  The Bills have lost their last two games against the Raiders and Steelers, respectively.

For the Browns, tanking the season has become harder and harder to ignore as they stopped going to the one part of their offense that was working, their running game.  The Browns started the season with the best running game in the league but they began to go away from it when defenses began keying the run.  Now, the league is baffled by erratic play calling and lack of game planning.

The Bills will continue to pound the ball and are close to breaking a franchise record for rushing touchdowns once they get past 26 they will.  They are already over 2000 rushing yards and are only 450 yards away from having a top five single season rushing record.

Bills sitting at .500

“We need to seize the moment”

DE Kyle Williams

The Buffalo Bills (5-5, 3rd AFC East) have players on their squad that were not even born the last time the Bills won a playoff game (24 years ago) and DE Kyle Williams is urging his team to seize the moment and grab a playoff spot before his time is up.

“As a Buffalo Bill, I’ve had opportunities to make the playoffs, they’ve passed me by,” Williams said, via The News. “We have the opportunity right now. We need to seize the moment.”

The Bills are coming off a slim 4-point 16-12 win over the 3-6 Cincinnati Bengals and know that they need to take it to the 2-8 Jaguars from from the coin flip and throughout the entire game.  It doesn’t help when your head coach is poking fun at (allegedly) your opponent–no need to get them heated up, coach!

“That’s the best two win team I’ve ever seen, and that’s the truth,” Ryan said. “I don’t get it. I mean statistically they’re the seventh rated defense in the league. So they’re ranked higher bills-5than we are on defense. Their offense is 21st in the league, but now they’re healthy. Outside, they’ve got three guys that can really play. I mean they’ve got way more top 100 players than we did last year, you know looking at all that stuff, I thought it was the Jacksonville show. But you know you’ve got a franchise quarterback, that’s what they all tell me. You’ve got Chris Ivory at running back, who’s a great back. I had him with the Jets. I know all about him. He’s a handful. Then you got you know (Allen) Hurns, (Allen) Robinson and (Marqise) Lee is really playing well. Probably the best game that Lee has ever had. So they definitely have those types of weapons on offense. And then they’ve got a big offensive line, physical offensive line. And then on defense, like I said, they’re seventh in the league, with a lot of talent so to think we’re going to overlook them, there’s no chance. I mean I don’t understand it necessary. I think it probably comes down to their turnover —you know, I think they’re at -15 maybe or something like that. And I think that contributes to their record probably more than anything else. But this is a dangerous football team.”

Sarcasm or not, the Bills should be ready for a pumped up Jags team.  You can be there to watch it all!  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your Buffalo Bills!

Bills drop second game

Lose by six against Jets.

The Buffalo Bills were hoping to bring their record even against the New York Jets at home but the Jets had other plans as Ryan Fitzpatrick finally figured out Rex Ryan’s defense, finishing 24-34 for 374 yards and a touchdown.

For the Bills, the loss to a division rival was heartbreaking and for the Jets, it was redemption for last season’s 22-17 loss that eliminated them from the playoffs.

bills-4“Obviously, we never expected this,” Ryan said. “The Jets were a much better team than we were today, especially their offense against our defense looked like a mismatch today. You look for a difference in the game and that was the difference in the game.”

But Ryan went further Friday and fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman and replaced with him Asst. head coach/running backs coach Anthony Lynn

“This is my move, without question,” Ryan said, adding that he met Friday morning with owners Terry and Kim Pegula. The coach said they were supportive of the call to part ways with Roman, the NFL’s highest-paid offensive coordinator.

The Bills will have to focus on the Arizona Cardinals defense next weekend who held the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to seven points while pasting 40 points on them.

“I think, obviously, it’s going to be very challenging,” Ryan said. “There’s no question about it. [And] I think our players will be excited about Anthony running the show.”
